APARTMENT RENTALS: PREPPING THE PROPERTY

You now have your first property, and you need to fill the vacancy.  Do you know what is required to attract a good tenant?  A rule of thumb to follow is to prepare the apartment as though you were going to live in the space yourself.  That means it should be freshly cleaned, everything in good repair, and ready to move-in condition.

• Are the plumbing and electrical systems in good working order and safe?
• How appealing is the exterior of the building?

Everyone has their own tastes and preferences.  Your apartment needs to be appealing to the largest number of prospective tenants as possible. This usually means neutral colors on the walls and floors.  This doesn't mean your apartment has to be bland; you still need to make it standout so that it is memorable to any prospects that view your apartment.
